The article "Air force nuke officers caught up in big cheating scandal" discusses how 34 officers in the air force were caught cheating on a monthly proficiency exam to conduct nuclear operations. 16 officers were found to have actually cheated, but the rest knew and did not report it to anyone.
I think this is outright crazy. There's one thing to cheat on a test to pass a class, but when you are in such a powerful position as that, then it is completely absurd. Air force men and women should take pride in what they do because they represent our country. I cannot believe those officers did not have the integrity to do what was right. Especially because they are working the nuclear missiles. From reading the story about the emperor in class, I could get a pretty good idea of what integrity is. It's about being honest even when you have the chance to lie and get away with it. Air Force Chief Staff said that he "echoed concern expressed by James about the integrity of the officers." I am glad that the chief knows what low integrity these officers have and is punishing them for their wrongful actions.

Do you think a person's integrity defines who they are?
I do think integrity defines a person. I believe that if you can trust someone then you will treat them better, and the way people are treated can often affect who they are. I think people's integrity can change over time, but what people remember, and how they treat that person may define them for a long time.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say that integrity completely defines a person because what someone may think is right may be the opposite of what you think is right in some cases. It was the way that they were raised that decides what decision they choose to make. So ya integrity is a big part of who a person is but I wouldn't say that is the only thing that defines them.
ReplyDeleteI would say integrity definitely defines a person's character. If you don't have integrity you probably aren't a very good person, right? A person can change their integrity and become a better person forsure. Some examples of integrity are honesty and good morals. That's is what you need to be a good person to yourself and others.
ReplyDeleteYes, I believe that integrity does define a person and their character. The definition of integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principals. I think it is very important to be honest and to have strong morals. Although integrity is a very important thing, integrity is not the only thing that defines an individual.
